    Product Introduction

    The Underground Cable Fault Locator has been developed to address the evolving demands of the power industry. By integrating numerous advanced solutions for cable fault testing and capitalizing on the rapid development of information technology, this system moves beyond traditional single-chip microcontroller and notebook-based cable fault testers. Built on an embedded computer platform, it establishes a networked cable fault test service platform tailored to the specific characteristics of the cable fault testing industry. The system incorporates USB communication, touch screen technology, and 3G communication, significantly enhancing functionality and application value while ensuring ease of operation in field environments.

    Given the increasing prevalence of buried cables, the complete system complies with the general technical specifications for power equipment special test instruments as defined in the People's Republic of China power industry standards DL/T 849.1–DL/T 849.3-2004. It consists of four components: a pulse generator, fault locator, cable path tracer, and associated accessories. The system is designed to test various types of power cable faults, locate cable paths, determine cable burial depth, and accurately diagnose faults in signal control cables and street lighting cables used in railway, airport, and similar applications.

    The core multi-pulse method technology revolutionizes traditional testing approaches, fundamentally resolving the long-standing challenge of interpreting high-impedance fault waveforms. With the multi-pulse generator, any complex high-impedance waveform can be transformed into a familiar, easily identifiable low-voltage pulse short-circuit fault waveform. This eliminates the difficulty users often face in interpreting complex high-impedance fault waveforms and significantly improves the accuracy of critical rough measurements.


    Product Characteristics

    1. Industrial Embedded Platform: Utilizes an industrial-grade embedded computer platform system designed for robust stability in demanding environments. Powered by lithium battery, it is highly convenient for field testing.

    2. Large Touchscreen System: Features a 12.1-inch large-screen touch system with an integrated XP operating platform, marking a significant advancement beyond the era of single-chip microcontroller-based cable testers.

    3. USB Communication & Dual Control: Adopts a new USB communication interface for stable signal acquisition. Supports dual control and dual display with a notebook computer. The host automatically selects from five sampling frequencies ranging from 6.25 MHz to 100 MHz, accommodating cables of various lengths while reducing rough test errors.

    4. Intelligent Software Functions: Software enables automatic fault search, automatic distance display, and audible alarm for incorrect card insertion. Dual cursors can be positioned with a resolution of 0.15 m. Waveforms can be compressed, expanded, and overlapped as needed. Up to ten low-voltage pulse waveforms can be displayed simultaneously on the same screen for selection, stacking, and positioning, improving test accuracy and reducing errors.

    5. Remote Expert Support: Supports 3G communication terminals or wireless network cards. Dedicated 3G software enables remote real-time technical support from experts, allowing remote control of the user's host for timely waveform analysis and guidance during field tests.

    6. Precision Pointing with Digital Display: The critical precision pointing instrument features direct digital display of the distance between the tester and the fault point—an innovation in domestic pinpointing technology. This provides strong assurance for rapid and accurate cable fault location while minimizing power outage losses.

    7. Multi-Pulse Generator: Delivers one discharge and ten low-voltage pulses with intuitively superimposed short-circuit waveforms for easy analysis. The multi-pulse generator is compact and weighs only 5 kg, achieving true portability for the complete equipment set.

    8. High-Voltage Discharge Options: Offers three types of high-voltage discharge components for user selection. The high-frequency high-voltage power supply (8.9 kg) replaces the traditional 65 kg test transformer and operation box, filling a technological gap in the domestic market.
